🎭 Local Culture & Digital Storytelling in São João da Madeira
Located in the northern Aveiro district, São João da Madeira has a unique industrial and artisanal legacy known worldwide as Portugal's capital of hat manufacturing and footwear craft. The town boasts the famous Museu da Chapelaria (Hat Museum), one of Europe’s rarest museums dedicated to traditional felt and hat craft, along with the Footwear Museum.
Within this Erasmus+ project, students from Dr. Serafim Leite School interview master craftsmen, digitize local oral histories, film short documentaries, and record podcasts exploring how artisanal identity shaped modern Portuguese society.
🌍 Role in the Erasmus+ Project
Dr. Serafim Leite School serves as a vital pedagogical partner, offering expertise in audiovisual production, multimedia tools, and educational digital storytelling.
During the transnational mobilities, students and teachers from Poland and Türkiye collaborate with Portuguese peers in workshops focusing on video editing, scripting digital narratives, and documenting maritime and industrial traditions across Aveiro.
